Since the Romans built a military camp on the site of today's Vienna, a lot of water has flowed down the Danube: Ruling families came
and went. Vienna survived Ottoman sieges, plague epidemics,
wars, political and social upheavals and experienced a blossoming of literature
flourishing of literature, coffee house culture and Art Nouveau. All this has left marks
and new ones are constantly being added. To this day, Vienna is a
constantly changing melting pot of art and culture.
Our walk takes us right across the city
to the Hofburg, the State Opera House, through the former aristocratic quarter, over Roman paths to the
medieval squares to Vienna's oldest residential building,
Mozart's last preserved flat and finally to the city's landmark, St. Stephen's Cathedral.
