Discover Vienna

By Bicycle through the Prater

Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte would have liked to exchange the then Parisian Tuileries for the Vienna Prater in 1805, according to a well-known quote. Vienna and the Viennese are still proud of their world-famous Prater, whether it is the Wiener Riesenrad, the "Wurstelprater" or the green Prater. To date, this has many functions for the Viennese and their guests. The entertainment venues and restaurants, the Ernst Happel Stadium, the Krieau racecourse and the Lusthaus at the end of the 4 km main avenue are very well known. Less well known is the Prater cottage called quarter along the Danube Canal, the pilgrimage church Maria Grün or the oldest existing bridge in Vienna at Konstantin pond. It is important to get to know the known and unknown places in the Prater and their stories.
