Discover Vienna

"Women who wrote history"

From the first grave of honour for a woman at the Central Cemetery, built for the world traveller Ida Pfeiffer, to the burial places for the poet and journalist Betty Paoli and the film diva Hedy Lamarr, to the gravesite of the architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky and the politicians Adelheid Popp and Johanna Dohnal: we go to the last resting places of famous and once well-known Viennese women and look at their lives and work. We will learn about the living conditions of women over the decades and we will also get an overview of the history of the women's movement in the 19th and 20th centuries.
